The Edison Awards are among the most prestigious awards given for endeavors in innovation. Established in 1987 after the famous inventor Thomas Edison, the awards are given annually to recognize the world’s top innovative products and leaders. Winners include CEOs Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, as well as products from General Electric, IBM, and Lockheed Martin Corp.

Elon Musk wins an Edison Award in 2014.

But winning such a high-profile award isn’t easy. In addition to developing a world-class solution, companies must submit multiple essays as part of a long and grueling application form. Helping companies with such applications is a service that PowerPT not only offers, but excels in. Our support with application writing has helped startups pitch on major stages like Slush, join top accelerators like Techstars and MassChallenge, and win countless awards. So in late 2020, PowerPT engaged in a project to help three startups apply for the Edison Awards.

We worked with AKA AI, Coconut Silo, and Deep Bio, three up-and-coming startups that were selected to receive support from the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (GCCEI). After spending hours learning about their products and teams, we went to work writing and proofreading their applications.

Soon after submitting their applications, they were featured on the website’s list of nominations. This means that their applications had been accepted and were now officially nominated.

2021 Edison Award Finalists

And after a multi-round voting process, we received the news that all three teams would be accepting an Edison Award at the official ceremony in Florida this April. That’s 3 for 3!

We’d like to congratulate all three teams on a job well done. The innovation team at PowerPT couldn’t be prouder to work with such amazing organizations and people. Here’s to future success in 2021!
